Description
23-carat edible gold leaf in sheets is a refined culinary decoration that transforms any dish into a striking visual statement. Each 8 x 8 cm sheet is an ultra-thin, shimmering layer of genuine gold, designed for exceptional presentation and fine dining-style service. Suitable for both savoury dishes and desserts, it elevates plating without altering flavour.
It also allows you to recreate at home the iconic gold-covered steaks made famous by top steakhouses in Dubai and New York.
Uses:
Edible gold leaf is ideal for finishing:
- premium steaks such as Ribeye, Wagyu A5, or Beef Wellington
- cakes and plated desserts including creams, mousses, semifreddo, and ice cream
- champagne flutes, cocktails, and aperitifs using a floating dry effect
- sushi and nigiri, for example wrapped in nori and gold leaf
The product has no taste or aroma. Its value lies purely in aesthetics and the atmosphere it creates.
Gold-covered steak BeeF-Atelier recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 Wagyu A5 Ribeye or another premium steak from BEEF.PL
- sea salt and black pepper
- clarified butter
- 1 sheet of 23-carat edible gold 8 x 8 cm
Method:
- Season the steak with salt and sear it in a cast iron pan for approximately 2.5 minutes per side for medium-rare. Turn the steak every 30 seconds to achieve an even crust on all sides.
- Allow the steak to rest for 5 minutes.
- Just before serving, gently place the gold leaf onto the warm steak using kitchen tweezers. The gold is extremely delicate and fragile, so handle with care.
- Serve with herb butter or black salt and allow the gold to take centre stage.
Is edible gold safe to eat?
Yes. This is pure 23-carat gold approved for contact with food. It has no flavour and no nutritional value and serves a purely decorative purpose.
Can it be used on hot dishes?
Yes. Apply the gold just before serving, ideally to warm, rested dishes such as steak or fish. It should not be exposed to direct heat or cooking.
Is one sheet enough for a whole steak?
Yes. A single 8 × 8 cm sheet is sufficient to cover the surface of a classic Ribeye, Striploin, or Fillet.
How should the gold be applied?
Use tweezers or a fine brush. The gold is ultra-thin and delicate and will easily fold or tear if touched with fingers.
